Crocheting Updates! (a little late)

For Halloween this year I made a couple of adorable ghost ami's for my daughter (witch) and her friend (fairy). I got the pattern from chriscrochetcrazy. They are super easy and quick to make. The girls obviously loved them. :)

Also finally finished up my Katamari ball for the Prince. Woo hoo!

Lately I've been working on making crocheted kitchen dish sponges for Christmas presents. I've probably made about 30 already but somehow some of them made it into my cabinets so I keep having to make more. lol. Pictures to come!
Also need to get busy on the ami's that I'm making Megan for Christmas. Plus I found a really cute pattern for a Christmas tree pattern from PlanetJune that I'm going to make up for my Grandmother. Yea!

I know I could make these patterns on my own but I like to support other crochet artist when I can. :)

Katamari Fun!

Na na na na Katamari Damacy! Yea! I finished the Prince up about a week ago and am currently working on the Katamari ball. I'm about half done hopefully next week I'll be able to post pictures of it along with the link that I used.

Happy October Everyone! I love October! Fall begins, the weather gets cooler, and of course Halloween!

I sorry that I haven't been posting much lately. My husband got back from Iraq a couple of weeks ago and we've been very busy since he got home. I was super busy before he got home too trying to finish up several projects and here they are.

Here is the Tonberry that I made for my husband. I actually didn't finish it until about week after he got home because I came up with idea of getting some glow in the dark yarn to use on the yellow part of the lantern. I was going to use it on the eyes too but the yarn has bits of white in it also and I didn't think that really looked as good as the solid yellow so only the lantern is glow in the dark.

The glow in the dark yarn I used is Bernat Glow in the Dark Light Bright. There are six different colors and I bought one of each so I would have some on hand for future projects. My daughter loved it so it went right to her as soon as it was done. :)
I'm not real thrilled with how it turned out though and I will probably try again after Halloween.

As well as crocheting I also managed an attempt at making a paopu fruit pillow from the Kingdom Hearts Game. Mine's not as good as Lil Moon's from Ebay unfortunately I can't draw a star to save my life. Still I'm kinda proud of it and I learned how to do an invisible stitch. So it turned out to be a learning experience as well. Megan wants one too. Since I haven't managed to make another one yet I may just make one for her for Christmas.

Here were my on the go projects for about a week. I wound up making 3 of them 2 crochet and 1 knit. These work great and crochet or knit up really fast! They are made using Lily Sugar'n Cream yarn. Here is the link: http://www.sugarncream.com/pattern.php?P=4

Finished my Girl Moogle Maggie.

I finally finished my girl Moogle who I call Maggie a couple of days ago. When I started making her it was with the intent of finding mistakes in my first moogle's pattern. After I got started I realized that I should've taken pictures of how it was being constructed so I took some pictures of how I constructed her. But.... Here's my dilema. I don't know whether I should post the pattern of both of them or just of the first moogle that I made which if I do that then I need to make another one because I don't want to have pictures of a project that doesn't match the colors. Hmmm what to do. ?

While I'm deciding I have already started on another project. Which I hope to have up by next week.

Moogle pattern is going to take a little longer.

While I was working on Kerochan I realized that I made some mistakes in my crocheting while I was working on my moogle pattern so I will be reworking the pattern to correct them before I type it up and list it on Etsy. Will keep you posted.

Cardcaptors Kerochan!

Cardcaptors is such a cute show. I used to watch it all the time when it was on TV. I just love her battle costumes and Kerochan is so cute!

I used her pattern for the head and wings and then made up the rest of the body myself.
He was made for my daughter who is a huge Cardcaptors fan! Although I really like it too so might have to make another one then my moogle will have a friend. He he.
Unfortunately I was a little off on stitching the mouth but my daughter is still very happy!
This picture was where I got the idea to make his body bigger and since I basically copied her idea wanted to give credit to her. If you click on the picture it will take you to the page that I found it on.
I couldn't find a pattern or anything for how she did the body and so this is what I came up with. I'm posting it here in case anyone else would like to copy this idea too.

Body
1. Magic Ring - 6sc
2. 2 sc in each st. around -12 sc
3. 1 sc, 1 inc.* around - 18sc
4. 2 sc, 1 inc.* around - 24sc
5-22. Sc around - 24
23. 2 sc, 1 dec.* around - 18
24. Sc around - 18
Cut leaving long enough tail to sew head on.

Arms - Make 2
1 Magic Ring - 6sc
2. 2 sc each st. around - 12 sc
3-15. Sc around - 12 sc
Cut leaving enough yarn to sew to body

Legs - Make 2
1. Magic Ring - sc
2. 2 sc. Inc. in each st. around - 12sc
3. 1 sc., 1inc. In each st. around - 12sc
4-6 sc around - 18
7. 1 sc, 1 dec.* around - 12
8-19. Sc around
Cut leaving enough yarn to sew to body

Tail
Using size 8 dbl. pointed needles cast on 3
Knit across without turning slide to other end and continue
Knitting until tail is desired length.

Lulu's Moogle Doll

After forgoing many hours of sleep and feeling like I was on the verge of carpal tunnel from repeated ripping out and redoing, I finally finished my very first amigurumi pattern and it's Lulu's moogle doll from Final Fantasy 10! Yea!

I am thinking about typing it up into a pdf. file and offering it on Etsy if anyone is interested.

My obsession started because of a cat!

This poor pitiful looking cat to be precise.

I supose the best place to start is at the beginning. My only child Megan was invited to go and spend a couple of weeks at a friend's house and I allowed her to go so off she went on her merry way. My husband is currently in Iraq and so I was left alone at home wondering what I was going to do with myself so I came up with the idea to make Megan (12), her friend (12) and her friend's brother (10) and two sisters (7 & 3) each a gift to take to them when I went up to get her. I wound up making Megan and her friend matching American Girl doll dresses 4 total since I let both girls pick out what fabric they would like. I asked what the 3 year olds favorite animal was and Megan went and asked and informed me that it was a cat. So off I went in search of a pattern and found this one on etsy. Adorable right? Well I decided to be adventurous and make her a pink cat. Not thinking that the nose was suppose to be pink. I decided to try black instead. Baaaaad idea! I didn't get a picture of that unfortunately. So then I thought ok gray and ripped the black out. LOL. This is how it turned out. Looks like a cross between a pig, a cat and a rat! I called it a catigat! LOL!

However I decided to try again and this time it turned out cute!

Dah dah dah da Princess Kitty!

Which in turn led to me making a mouse for her royal pink cuteness!

(The mouse was made from the book Super Cute Crochet.)

Which led to a purple octopus friend!

(The purple octopus was made from the book Amigurumi World - Super Cute Crochet)

Which led to this cute little horse that I made for the 7 year old sister who's crazy about horses!

(Pattern used is Amara the Unicorn even though I made it a horse instead)

But what really got me going were the anime amigurumi patterns that I started running across. We love anime!
All kinds of anime, and alot of the RPG games.
Some of our favorites are Cardcaptors, Studio Ghibli films (all of them), WoW, Final Fantasy(all of them), Kingdom Hearts (all of them), Rozen Maiden and alot of others and so I got really excited that I was finding patterns to be able to make some of the characters from some of our favorite anime movies or games.
I am currently working on making my own moogle pattern. I found a pattern for a moogle but after reading the pattern found that it was going to be pretty small and wanted one that is more true to size. I am writing the pattern down and hope to share it eventually.
Anyway I hope that you enjoy my enthusiam and the patterns that I will be sharing.

Opening the door to the world of amigurumi.

These are the very first amigurumi's that I made about a year and a half ago for our neighbor's twins before we both moved. I think they turned out pretty well considering it was my first try. I have to admit though that although these were fun to make they didn't start my obsession with making them. I was way too involved with sewing at the time. But I've started making them again and this time I fell down the rabbit hole into amigurumi land.
